I'm looking for a laptop bag to fit my AW 17 R3 and was set on the Everki Titan, but the price seems a bit high here in the UK so I was waiting for a price drop or promotion on Amazon. While waiting I was searching for cheaper alternatives and came accross this backpack from Targus

Seems pretty decent and much cheaper than the Everki Titan, and Targus is a good brand as well afaik. Tried searhing for reviews but it seems this bag is quite new to the market so there's none yet.

    Any opinions?

I just returned a Targus Drifter 2 because it was falling apart after 10 months, poor build quality. I sent it back and they didn't have thye model I hjad so I have have 79.00 credit, so they made up for it and I will do business with them in the future. When I got my new laptop I splurged on the Everiki Titan and it's build quality is a whole different league. I would be interested in hearing how you like the Strike if you decide to go that route.

I already ordered the Strike, will receive it in 2 - 3 days. Will post some pictures and write a first impression once I have it

Mind elaborating what went wrong with your drifter 2? I was considering that as well since its way more cheaper but few reviews mentioned poor build quality, and I wasn't keen with the styling.

The design of the backpack was very nice, I was able to fit all the necessary equipment for gaming on the road plus the few remaining manuals and charts I have to carry when I fly. The only design flaw was that the interior pockets were quite flimsy which made it tough to use in that you had to use on had to keep the pocket open and the other to insert the device. The next problem is that the zippers were cheap and the one on the main compartment failed. The next issue was the fabric on the top handle failed around the zipper on the top compartment, it was falling apart. I have had many Targus bags over the years and they were always top quality, this backpack was the exception. I contacted their support and after sending a few picture to the they issued a RMA. One other thing was that my GT73VR was a bit too large for the laptop compartment which led my to the Everiki Titan.

I hope you have better luck with the Strike.

    Just received my Strike backpack

Initial impression - everything seems well made. The stitchings are good and the overall material seems thick, solid and could take a beating. I dont have the everki titan to compare but for the price of this everything seems to be fair

Interior wise there's markings for every single pocket and space, since they advertise this as a gaming backpack. But i reckon you could store wtv you want

As for the laptop compartment, it fits my AW 17 R3 perfectly fine with not snugs at all. So I guess it should do fine for most 17 inch gaming models. Won't try my luck with 18 inches thou

Now the only bad part of my first impression, is the zippers. They don't give me the same confidence that they'll last like the rest of the bag. They are rather thin and seems made from cheap metal. They look and feel exactly the same as those zippers I had with some cheap backpacks that could break in half if i pull them hard enough

But maybe they'll last, who knows. I'll reserve my judgement at this point and see how the bag will do in a year or so. Overall I would recommend this bag for those looking for a 17 inch bag to fit their gaming laptops, the price is reasonable and everything is well made expect the zippers. And since there's lifetime warranty with Targus I assume you can just return the bag incase anything turns bad.

I'm glad you like your new backpack, If something does fail Targus will stand by it.

I have a Strike, less than 3 months old. I use it daily but mostly to and from the car. It's already breaking at the seams. The mouse compartment is fully shredded and it had a hole between the middle and front compartment.

Really disapointed for a 100€ backpack. Gonna return it soon.
