Alright, I was hoping somebody could help me out on this one. I need to find the serial number for the backpack in order to register it for Renter's Insurance. I tried looking all over the bag, but I couldn't find it. Anyone here who happens to own the bag know where I can get the serial number? Thank you. :)

I don't think they put serial numbers on things like that. I've never seen a serial number on any backpack/bag I've ever owned. Just claim it sans number.

Also, I don't know if you have done it or not, but take a photo of everything you want insured (and everything you aren't even sure about, but is in your place). Assuming they're digital, burn them to a CD (couple copies), and stick one at, say, your parent's place, or a friend's, or a safety deposit box. That's the best way to prove what you had in the event you actually have to file a claim on it.

But the strange thing is, I could take a picture of something, but how does it prove that it's mine? I could've done the same thing by printing it off a computer, no?

I have currently typed all of the Serial Number/Product Numbers on all of my merchandise, though. Would it be required to have a picture?

    From Targus:

So, there is a serial number somewhere on it, because I can't register the backpack without it. :(

A model number is NOT a serial number. A serial number is different on each item. A model number just describes a class of item. Same as the name Targus XL. It has it's own model number: TXL617 (quick google search)
As for the pictures, it's just a good idea. It is pretty obvious to someone that it's in your place if you take a picture of it there. Don't take a picture of things separately, just kind of do a 'tour' of the place you're renting, making sure it shows all your stuff (as well as being identified as being in your place). If they won't take that as evidence, then they'd basically have to require a receipt for every single thing you've purchased and hoped to insure. If your insurance company does that, find another one.

Oh, so once I get there tomorrow and have everything set up, I should take a picture of the place? I thought you meant take a picture of each seperate item. Alright, that makes much more sense. :)
