I bought a Micro Innovations Cooler - aka crap - brand cooler the other day for $5. I didnt think it would actually do anything. It did surprisingly.

    My temperatures went from
    CPU: 64C to 60c
    GPU: 65C to 62C

The base of my laptop would also get quite hot during gaming. Now not at all :)

My next step is going to be rigging this up to 12v power. I imagine I will end up burning up the sleeve bearing fans but oh well.

I use a Notebook Radiation Stand ($10) which works on Passive Cooling.

Now i am planning to install Fans below it. but the Fans will cost much more than the cooler itself

I used to use pencils, markers, nextel cell phone and a few other things.

My idle temperature on the CPU is a bit higher too. My guess is the heat from the bottom is blown through the fan grille and warm air isn't cooling the CPU as well? Still cooler while gaming - the only thing I can think it is is like a heat soak type of deal; it doesn't allow the motherboard and plastic base to heat soak as much.

hahaha... you know what. I was doing the exact same thing, using a Staedtler Mars Plastic eraser to tilt up the GPU side of my laptop for the last 2 years. In fact, it works well...

I would never expect such a coincidence...

One of my PS2 DVD-cases. Horizontly placed so no wobbling!
