Problem/Question for experienced TV tuner owners:
Ok I've been up all night, no wait, all morning to find USB 2.0 TV Tuner(I suppose usb2 works alot better/no lag than usb 1.1?) that fit my needs. I am looking for a great usb(portable) TV tuner, and if at all possible with RCA input so I can play PS2 in my computer. I guess the AV plug/RCA not a biggie I guess I could just buy an adapter from S video to AV(Wait, that only does video, no audio..,)

Price Range: $40->$100ish, maybe <$140(if it's REALLY2 good and huge difference)

    In Addition..

So far I've been up all night found the fact that:
    1. I used Winfast TV2000XP PCI for my desktop, now I search for new usb2 leadtek product, and got hooked by Leadtek/Winfast TV USB II Deluxe. Not only it's compact, lightweight, and looks very cool but also I know it should be good because I was very pleased with the PCI version that been out few years old(they have a nice software interface), and this one is usb 2.0.. too bad no AV connection and flat remote.
    <$95 refurb

    2. ATI TV tuners SUX! (usb 1.1 -the red one:l own it once for 2 day) and I thought usb 2.0 version would be great, but reviews doesn't say so..
    <$70

    3. AverMedia looks good (MTVBOXEX9,MTVBOXEX7 -+$100)

4.how about PROLINK TV-USB-2.0 TV Box?(Good review on newegg) $54

    Onegaishimasu! Please help!! =)

from some other post I read, some like Hauppauge WinTV PVR USB2.. hasn't it been out for a while? I don't know if it's still good(one of the best).. well I don't really care tho as long as it is cheap and superrr quality =)

oh, my laptop is Asus, if that any matter.. (cause I saw some other people ask tv tuner for their laptop, so...)

Hauppauge has been really popular, I've done some reasearch on them, and most of the time, Hauppauge was the most recommended one.

I have the ATI TV Wonder USB 2.0 and it does what I want it too. I don't really watch tv on my UXGA screen, but I use the pvr version and burn it to dvd just like a VCR to VHS.

Don't buy PVR cards, they lag by 2-3 seconds, you won't enjoy playing on them.

Does this mean I hook my laptop(i6000) directly to my TIVO and not have to have a TV tuner and be able to save TV shows to my HD or burn to DVD? Any special connections?
    Thanks.

I am happy with my ATi USB 2.0 tuner as well. It worked great on my UXGA screen and only lagged when I tried doing other work while watching TV. I do not think this was the tuner but the 32mb intergrated graphics card.

The software that came along with the tuner is easy to use and very usefull. If I had to do it again I would make the same decision.

hook up laptop to network, hook up tivo to network (mines wired) than tivo has software you can use to dl from your recorded shows. i dont burn and u may have to use there program so it may not be for everyone but viewing on the go this way works.

the only thing is every tivo is wired some use there phone line i use my dsl, hook yours to network and u can dl

I had the Hauppauge USB 2.0 for a while and it was pretty good. I returned it only because I realized that I didn't NEED it.

The one thing that the Hauppauge has going for it is that it uses hardware MPEG compression, so it doesn't tax your CPU very much, but that's more a concern for slower machines.
