Well, now that I saw this thread, it reminded me of how badly I wanted to get headphones so my audio doesn't sound like crap. :)

Are there any specific headphones that have good bass, etc.? (I don't know anything about headphones)

    Hello Nocturnal.

    First point:
    Price ranges.

Sony EX85 are OK as you said - abviously, there are more expensive headphones around, but you'll need examples from different price ranges.
    Say, up to 50 Dollars,
    50 to 100 Dollars
    100 to 150 Dollars
    150 to 200 Dollars
    and over 200 Dollars.

Then obviously there are "different types" of headphones "large" and "small" ones.

I suggest you focus on the easily portable kind, else it get's too much.

Also, suggest what you suggested to me - get a different ear bud for my Sony EX85 - may be cheaper for some people.

    Plenty...

Emphasize the value of a decent soundcard - like an X-Fi Go - its a step in the right direction for better audio...

Possibly avoid headsets, it would open a can of worms.

Also, don't make it too technical.

I suppose I haven't narrowed down your field at all.... sorry.

You'll possibly be looking at in-ear headphones liek the Sony EX range - but I have been informed that the earbuds aren't good - so you may not get an optimum performance.

    There is obviously Sennheiser...

Nocturnal is your man for the job :)

headphone or headset? at any rate, here are some ideas:

    -sound quality & clarity
    -design (circumaural or supraaural)
    -price
    -weight/size
-portability (can the unit fold up? is a traveling case included?)
    -appearance & design
    -build quality
-control options (in-line volume control or similar?)
-special features (special bass amplifiers or similar? flashing lights? stuff like that)
    -surround sound version (2.1? Virtual 5.1? Virtual 7.1? True 5.1? True 7.1?)
-connectivity options (3.5mm jack, USB, digital audio, whatever)

    Hmm not too sure

Maybe some information on the diff. types of headphones there are first
    --In ear
    --earphones
    --behind the neck
    --full sized
And the pros and cons of each???

Also, you might want to suggest which type of headphones are most suited to different tasks, like gaming, music etc.

Also, maybe include some examples of good headphones in each class\category, like you did in your Gaming Mice Guide

Just some suggestions, hope they helped

Look forward to reading the completed guide ;)

EDIT - Just saw all the other posts, sort of makes mine redundant :p

Pricing, hearing clarity, Fit & Style...Gotta have something comfy for those ears! :D

Also, showing all the types of headphones that are available, and a where to purchase for the best pricing!

    Cin ;) :)

Written with first-hand experience, instead of scouring Head-Fi for unconnected reviews would be nice. Let me know if you need any feedback.

    Just to add another post:
I can second at least two comments.

I'll quite happily give my impressions with my EX85

Also: Cord length - that is an interesting issue - Sonys are 1,2m I think, some cables are 1,5m and some 2m... a too long cable is annoying, a toio short one too...

That would be cool, too! :D

Im always debating on *over the head* or *in the ear's*, as to which one is the most comfy.

When I wear headhphones, I want lightweight as possible!~ Like they are not there, and all your hearing is the music... :D

    Cin ;) :)

Weight does matter, but its not the only factor in comfort, you have materials, clamping pressure, ear size and shape along with headphone size and shape. There are alot of factors. ;)

Please include a large gaming headphones section, something like your gaming mouse review. Also include audio cards... none seriuos gamer will use a good headphones without an audio card.
