Once you set specific actions to certain buttons via Setpoint, will they stay in the mouse memory once you install setpoint?

I have the performance mouse mx and it needs the Setpoint to customize the buttons. Would buy this in an instant if can keep the settings when I uninstall setpoint.

I have tested some basic buttons configuration for my G700 (general profile) just now. For instance, I have assigned G6 and G7 keys as my volume keys (the default has no specific tasks assigned to these 2 keys) and then I uninstalled the software to test it whether the customization/ setting assigned to these 2 keys will be gone. The result is NO. The G6 and G7 keys keep its assigned mode.

However, I found out that the software got popped up a window which stated that all the customizations/settings made before this will be gone after I have uninstalled it. Perhaps the mouse has built-in memory?

I will do the full depth review and upload it on 17 Sept 2010. Thus, please subscribe to me in YouTube in order to keep update with me. Thanks! :D

Is the scrolling wheel any good? With my g500 (and the previous g5 series) its a real pain to use it for: throwing nades in cod4, sprinting in assassins creed 2, etc...

For general and productivity purpose, it is considered GREAT! However, the scrolling wheel in gaming mode is not that good IMHO. You may accidentally press the side wheels while gaming as only a little force is needed to do so.

P/S: I have not done a massive gaming though. :D

I recently bought a Logitech G700. It is awesome in every way, except that the battery only lasts about 1.5 to 2.0 days. My other mouse (Logitech Performance MX) would have a battery that would last several days.

That's just about the only drawback I have to the G700.

    do you use 1000Hz polling?
I bet it can give you longer battery llife with 500Hz polling (which is very sufficient for everyday tasks)

Set it lower then you'll get longer battery life (Performance MX is normal 8ms lag) :D

That's what the profiles are for, for Gaming you can set to 1000Hz, but for General, 500Hz is wayy more than enough

From the gaming I've done, the scroll wheel has been the best I have ever used. The orochi I used had a horrible one. I couldn't hardly even bhop in cs source. Now I can much easier and better.

I game on the 1000 Hz polling rate and the battery life is fairly short. It should last quite a bit longer with all the settings down. I have a battery charger next to me with four other ones ready to go so if I need one I just pop it in real fast which I haven't had to do yet.

Sorry but I haven't really gauged it properly. With polling rate set on maximum it will not last 14 hours. Not by a long shot. I can test the battery life if you'd like but I'll have to report back by at least Wednesday as I have school going on and have stuff to do.

Yeah, I honestly wouldn't worry about it. Especially if you have ones that you recharge anyway. But the battery life is short if polling rate is all the way up.

I have done partial test on the battery life. Below is my result:

    Settings:
    1. Profile 1 = General mode.
    2. Polling rate = 500 reports/s.
    3. No gaming was done. Only some internet surfing and office works.

    18.27 - 23.59
    7.13 - 22.22
    8.06 - 2.23
    10.45 - 11.10

    Total usage = 39 hours 23 min.

P/S: Next, I will do some test on gaming profile which use 1000 reports/s.

Please do, Jeffrey as I am curious and happy that my initial battery test when I first got it was low because it was a first usage which is probably the case as yesterday I used it all night without the battery going down one notch out of three.

Yea, I will upload the Roccat Pyra Wireless mouse review into my YouTube channel tomorrow (Germany time). As for the comparison between this 2 gaming mouses, I have to say that both have their own advantages and disadvantages. For instance, Logitech G700 is more comfortable compared to Roccat Pyra Wireless mouse in long duration usage.

Anyway, stay tuned to my YouTube channel. If possible, please subscribe to me too. :D

    Nice video.

I really love my G700. The battery life @ 500 Hz seems reasonable, but @ 1000 Hz it is kinda short. The battery recharge time isn't too bad, and I can always swap the battery for a different one, as I use Sanyo Eneloops for everything these days.

I wish Logitech had gone with a nicer charging cable, though. The one they include doesn't suck, but it doesn't hold a candle to that of the Razer Mamba. The vinyl jacket is more stiff the Razer's braided sleeving, and the G700 cable is just too short for my desk, whereas Razer's cable is plenty long and causes no problems. I do rather like the cable retention system they chose: MicroUSB already has retention prongs, but they added a couple more to the plastic housing around the connector so that it really stays in tight, without needing a release lever (the Mamba's release is a huge pain by comparison).

All in all, the G700 is my new favorite mouse. I love it so much, especially the feel in my hand. My Mamba had me missing Logitech Microgear tech for the scroll wheel, but the G700 answers that with the best solution ever: hardware switch :)

If you already use rechargeable batteries you won't need to worry a thing about the cable .

looking from your review , the G700 uses the same scroll wheel as the MX Revolution . the middle part is the rubber that will get loose over time and finally get to a point that the scroll whell stuck because the rubber is grinding the walls inside the mouse ...

Hey guys, I just received my G700 from Newegg.ca yesterday ($130 shipped with taxes (we’re at 12% HST here) and thought I would throw up a quick blurb about it. I had originally wanted the R.A.T. 9 for use with the new laptop I was but I got turned off by the wireless transmitter/battery charger that was obviously designed more for a desktop than a laptop (or a portable desktop, as I call my G73). The G700 attracted me because it addressed both those issues with its micro-wireless receiver and its AA/rechargeable battery set up.

Since receiving it I have charged the battery with the supplied USB cable from its starting point at a little under half to full, which took about one and a half hours. I had read some complaints about the USB cable so I was interested to actually lay my hands on it. While it is a little stiffer than most built in mouse cables, I found that if I laid it on the desk in a way that it was well supported and out of the way I had no problems with it. But I didn’t buy this mouse to use it with a USB cable. I am very impressed with this mouse’s wireless performance. Even gaming I find that the 500 Hz polling is more than adequate, particularly compared to what I’m coming from (Logitech M510 and more recently the V470 which I was really not impressed with). The curser’s response is smooth in productivity and gaming applications, with no perceivable (to me anyway) lag or stutter (the V470 had a split-second delay between when you started moving it to when the curser started to move). The wireless receiver is great and the USB plug portion is completely buried in the USB slots on the G73 (although I have heard of other laptops with shallower ports). My last RF wireless mouse bit it because the inch and a half long receiver got broken because of its size so I am very happy to have such a small one that is a lot less likely to get caught on anything or hit/bent when the computer is on my lap. One thing that is worth noting, however, is that as far as I can tell, this is not a Logitech Unifying Receiver; it will only work with the G700, unlike the receivers that are shipping with many of Logitech’s productivity mice these days.

I love the placement of the buttons and the software that comes with it. Ironically I have run out of buttons for productivity short-cuts before I run out of buttons for gaming (although so far I have only used it for Borderlands, not WoW yet, but that’s coming!). The scroll wheel is great so far, heavy enough that when you spin it it keeps spinning. I haven’t run into any problems so far with hitting a sideways button when trying to use the center mouse button, but that may change. There has been some concerns expressed over the placement of the G11 button, behind the scroll wheel shifter, but unless you plan on using that to do something other than switch between the 5 onboard profiles it not a concern. In Borderlands I have found that the switchable DPI has definitely improved my game (I’m all about the sniping) although, and this is my only concern with this mouse, I think that Cyborg had a good idea on the R.A.T. with their DPI button, where you have to hold it down to drop the DPI for sniping and when you release it the DPI returns to normal. I find that with having to press a button to drop the DPI for sniping, and then press it again to return the DPI to normal, I sometimes find myself running around in messy battles wondering why I’m having trouble moving before I realize that I forgot to return the DPI to normal after getting ganked while sniping. I’ve had a look around the software and can’t see a way to change this to a hold/release system although if anyone knows of a way to switch it I would love to hear it. The macro software that comes with the software suit is adequate but nothing special. It will do all the basics, recording key strokes and mouse strokes. Adding delays is a bit of a pain because unless you have it set to record delays during recording (which can lead to imprecise delay length) you can’t add them afterwards, so I find myself recording with delays, then going back and editing all of the delays or deleting them and adding new ones. It also would have been nice to have the ability to create macros for navigating menus in productivity settings, but I guess you can’t have it all.

The texture of the mouse was a surprise, and took some getting used to, but after a few hours it felt as natural as ever. The weight of the mouse is perfect for me, no complaints, heavier than my last two mice but not too heavy. The size was also a pleasant surprise, I wasn’t expecting it to be so big but I love it. I have pretty long hands so it’s perfect for me. I have noticed that it is very sculpted, which works great in general, but I have a tendency to claw the mouse rather than rest my hand on it and every now and then I find the thumb rest a little in the way. This is far from being a deal breaker and I’m sure that in a couple of weeks I won’t even notice it. It’s just a change after the last two mice that I’ve had which were relatively un-sculpted.

All in all I think this is a great mouse, with great features and a great user experience, and a reasonable price and I would recommend it to anyone.

    Thanks for the review :)

Do you think the USB cable can be replaced with another that's softer? One end's the common USB interface, the other (on the mouse) is mini-USB, right?

The other end is micro USB.

And yes, you can replace it with any other micro USB cable. It's just a standard microUSB interface.

However, I personally would think that it would be kinda hard to fit other charging cable into that mini USB port as the shape of the "entrance" / port is custom made into their (Logitech) own design. One has to use the included charging cable to fit into that port. :)

    That is not correct.

Seriously, you can use any micro USB cable. That "special shape" of the Logitech cable is really just to prevent wiggling of the microUSB plug while it's plugged into the mouse. But I can 100% confirm that any micro USB cable will work.

    I use this cable:

Generic microUSB Cable - Purchased from Monoprice.com for about $1.50

Yes, you could plug any USB cable that has microUSB on one end into it, however, of all the USB cables I own that aren't permanently attached to something (like a mouse) this one is already the least stiff so I am skeptical you could find a microUSB cable that would be better.

I was trying to set up my buttons last night since I just got mine, I can't get COD to recognize the top 2 side buttons. The bottom two gets registered as button 4 and 5. Under the mouse profile, I have all four of the side buttons set as Generic Button.

Anyone know a solution to this?
