You could try binding those buttons to keys that you don't normally use in game, like

and [L]. Then CoD should just recognize those buttons as keystrokes. Some games have trouble registering more than 5 mouse buttons...heck, some can only handle two, so I just assign the extra buttons to keys in the mouse software.

You could probably modify the Mamba's braided cable to fit in the G700, assuming it doesn't already. It also uses micro-USB to USB, with a form-fitting end to plug into the mouse.

Well, I think it is more of a convenience factor than a practicality factor.

For example, I have a phone that charges off of micro USB (Verizon Droid). I can keep one micro USB cable in my laptop bag that charges both my phone and my wireless mouse.

Or, I can buy several spare micro USB cables, and keep them on my desktop, my office, my laptop bag, etc, and not worry about never having a cable around.

Yeah, but if the cable is made by Razer, it will probably come with a bunch of useless "g4M3Rz features" like gold-plated USB connectors and hermaphrodite unicorn testicles, and stop working after 9 months.

There's nothing wrong with gold-plated connectors. And the one attached to my 2007 DeathAdder still works just fine.

anyways, braided cables are nice touch for tangle-less usb cable
no more bent and broken cable that is.

I have to admit that the plastic feel of the included charging cable was not that good. It's kinda stiff and I will give my vote to braided cord. :p

Keep in mind the Orochi's cable is only 3 feet long...perfect for a laptop, but I wouldn't use it for a desktop setup.

As far as i know, gold plated connectors do nothing, and is a "pointless g4m3rz feature". Just Razers way of further enticing a customer.

Call me crazy, but I don't like paying for features that don't have any practical benefit. Which is why I do not buy Monster Cable, Bose, or Razer.

    25% off Logitech G Accessories Coupon - GAMING-910

Can get the G700 for $75.00 w/ Free Shipping direct from Logitech.

Still on the edge about it, $75.00 is steep for a mouse and I am a bit worried about battery life, but wanted to share that deal with you guys interested to save you some $$$

So setpoint is that hellishly red for gaming devices? Can you change that?
Setpoint for my performance mouse mx is like green and metal.
Btw great video, I just purchased this yesterday, should arrive soon.
Especially got this for the ability to save the customizations to mouse memory and afterwards you can uninstall setpoint.

    You will love it.

I used to exclusively use wired mice (I own 3x Logitech MX518's, 3x Logitech G5's). The G700 is the best one out of the bunch for either wired or wireless.

Seriously, you will love this mouse.

was having lunch with my co-workers today, was finishing up my Lunch (slowest) when it started to rain.. So i wandered around the IT Mall around my work area.. went to the mouse section and Tada~ Logitech G700 & Razer Mamba~ they are Huge in Real Life compared to Picture! :p

gotta say the Razer looks and Feel huge (Box) always thought it was middle sized box..

and yup I Choose G700 Over Mamba~ but i do like the lights and stuff.

likes the touch feeling of it.. ;)

Razer's flashy lights don't help their mice be any better as mice. I'd rather pay for features that actually make a mouse be a better mouse. Glad that you got the Logitech G700.

upon installing setpoint my touchpad went real slow, that was fixed by Update of the command center.

am very happy with this mouse, needs a few more days of testing and Savings to archive my Wish list. :D

Exactly right. Razer could make their products more affordable (and therefore accessible) to users by eliminating these inane "features" and therefore reduce their purchase cost. Marketing plays a big role in selling product, but so does the purchase power consumers hold over companies, especially during times when the economy isn't doing so well.

Razer actually benefits from its high price, because people associate high price with "exclusive". When you lower your price, you cheapen your brand. Sometimes, cheapening your brand is fine. But in other cases, you want to protect your brand's "exclusive" image.

This is why you will never find an inexpensive Bentley car, or Louis Vuitton hand bag. They COULD build an affordable and inexpensive car / handbag... but they don't want to, because people associate those brands with "expensive car / handbag that only rich people can afford".

Razer uses the same model as Bose and Monster Cable - take a product that is decent, and market it as a "premium" or "top-end" product. Razer does this by taking a decent laser / optical mouse, adding things like gold-plated USB connectors and flashy LED's, and marketing those as features that will somehow make you game better. Personally, I'd rather pay for features that actually make a better mouse than features that make a flashier mouse.

i find their products are quite comfortable to use
braided cable is another plus feature that most mouses don't have , makes you worry less about cables tangling around ( of course you can get a wireless mouse for it )

other than that , customizable buttons are somewhat good .
and the (gimmicky) gold plated bull crap connectors , because only a fool believes the outer shiny gold plating on the USB connector have something to do with increasing the performance of the mouse

Well I finally bought this after news that logitech has fixed the problem with the mouse jumping when making small movements.

I was trying to wait for a coupon, but I just got a free prime account with my .edu email so I pulled the trigger. I also get a set of sanyo eneloop AA and AAA batteries with a charger. I figured it was time since I'll now have a mouse chugging batteries as well as a wireless headset and xbox 360 controllers. Also, it looks as though my trusty MX518 will be getting replaced since I'll now use the G700 with my desktop and laptop. The thing has never given me a problem since I got it in what seems like forever ago. I'll definitely keep it stored away just in case.

Hey guys, thought I would post an update on this thread now that I’ve owned my G700 for 4 months. I still love this thing and have been carting it around in my laptop bag on a regular basis. I use it with a Razor Kabuto mouse pad which it works great on. I have knocked it off the table a couple of times and it is still going so that’s plus one for durability. I find that the battery life seems to have gone down a little bit since the beginning, but I have also been gaming more over the holidays so that might be affecting it. On the subject of gaming, I play Borderlands and WoW with it and it’s awesome for both of those games, although, like I said in my original review, I use the buttons most effectively for productivity applications. The only complaint I have about the mouse is that the battery life monitor is inaccurate. It spends well over half of its total useable life per charge showing only one light out of 3 and the “battery life critical” warning flashes up on the screen when I’ve still got a solid two days of life left in it. Overall it’s not a big deal, and it’s the only complaint I can come up with after 4 months of use (unless being excessively awesome is a complaint).

I have also had mixed results with using generic MicroUSB cables with this mouse. I have tried a couple that haven’t fit into it, so I would caution anyone to try the cable before buying it if you want a second cable in addition to the one that it comes with.

    +1 agree completely

Not just "exclusive" but people assume the "you get what you pay for" and take it too far and dont know that there is a point where you start to pay for more than you get. Still they assume expensive = "quality" in addition to "exclusive"

I just bought this mouse a week ago. I have to say the only con is the battery life, but it is due to me using it on 1000MHz all the time. It lasts me about 3.5 days with full charge while casual and gaming usage, turning it off when I'm sleeping.

Keep in mind battery life is all about the battery actually. The larger capacity the battery has the longer it will last. Also the amount of output the battery allows as well as the input the mouse requires when in use. The higher the polling rate the larger voltage out of the battery which reduces the amount of time for useage. Make sure you are also using NiMh batteries, which are usually rechargeable and never overcharge. Overcharging NiCad batteries degrade the life of the battery by a lot if you don't know how batteries work!

Yes the reason why the G700 has a short battery life is due to the fact of its 1000 polling potential. If you set it to a "normal" mouse polling of 500, you battery life increases by 50%. I'd wish Logitech made it 2x AA's instead of 1x but so far I tend to use mine wired and wireless if I am away from my desk, so I haven't really ragged my Sanyo eneloop in mine.

Also, I always recommend to my fellow G700 users to get Corepad Skates on them. Corepad Feet makes using the G700 100x better than the standard Logitech Feet and it really increases the potential of that Avago Laser Sensor.

"Normal" mouse polling is 125Hz. 500Hz was only really used by older wireless gaming mice; the only ones I can think of are the Logitech G7 and Microsoft Sidewinder X8.

Oops I meant 125... Thanks. However, you will still see a huge battery life increase. Polling Rate is really the biggest sole determinant of battery life.
