I just received it in the mail yesterday and I was wondering why this costs $70?

Besides the fact that it is SONY VAIO branded is there any other reason why this costs so much?

The case seems pretty durable but the padding inside seems pretty thin. Lol I dont have much experience with cases so I don't know what to look for in particular.

That is about it really. You pay for the brand and with the guarantee that the material does not fall apart within weeks.

    cheers ...

Sony is like the Apple of PC. Some of their stuff is a little on the pricey side. That soft case is one of them.

sony has ALWAYS been sony, since when had they changed their strategy to sell over-priced but somewhat decent products anyways? they were founded in 1946, what about apple? in fact, sony produces almost from cheapest to very expensive gadgets; although you can only get them in japan.

unless you are believe isolated keys were first found on apple products, then i would understand you said that out of your ignorance of product history :p

70 isn't expensive at all, in canada you are looking to pay around 70 for brands like tuscano or belkin or whatever. i'd love to see 80dollars vaio cases as an alternative.

the thinness of the case is because it isn't made for dropping, it is design to be protective against scratches inside your suitcase(or school bag)

Name some of those cheap Sony gadgets only available in Japan.

Yeah I feel as though this case will be great in avoiding scratches as the shell seems pretty good. Not sure if I would pay full retail but I am happy for what I got it for =]
