I a think about going all mobile and replacing my iMac with a mac mini and a sub $300 mini projector (that I way I can use both my computers with a big screen). What the quality like on these? Is it really bad/hard to read game text? How cheap/portable are the screens, and do I really need one? I was also curious how 720p videos would look on them.

what resolution does the mini projector display?

hopefully it isn't something like 856x480.

not very useful for work, but probably alright for videos

also, consider the brightness of the projector and where you plan to use it in your dwelling and how visible the image might or might not be

pc world did a review of pico projectors late january. they seem to be coming along. i have only seen a few projecting images on a wall behind vendors. i did not look at brands, but the ones i have seen working are more for a little "splash" in a product display than for more precise use as an extra monitor.
