First of all, I can't zoom in Vista. I haven't tried JUST yet in XP but I couldn't even find Vista drivers for this. Seems kind of a waste of buttons (which I'd rather reprogram).
During the installation it's always saying "We've disabled a few things so your touchpad can retain its functions"
I ended up looking home again yesterday and found a MX610 that's 30 bucks versus the 40 I paid for this. (Then again the only local "electronic" shops are Circuit City and Target, I'll have to go at least 20+ minutes to get to the others).
Problem with getting the MX610? I'm leaving for college next Saturday. Tigerdirect says 3-7 business days for shipping. I live in CA. Though the mini-receiver seems like a nice touch. I'm truly confused and hate that my local electronic shops are selling stuff from '05 for a premium price.
Take this the MX620. Is it that much better than the 610?

I un-installed the Logitech SetPoint software because it was useless and just wasted resources. Yes, my hotmail/MSN/sound/ side-scrolling buttons are dead, but the mouse works fine. Can you believe that the buttons don't even support the new versions of MSN (Windows Live Messenger)?!
I have a MX610, it's connected with the receiver and included PS/2 adapter. While not advertised as a "gaming" mouse, there's no "lag," interference, or skippy performance. -
Oh yeah performance-wise I'm just happy. There's really nothing wrong with the basic functions of the mouse. I'm just saying, I paid a "premium" (more like ignorance
) for a mouse and then the features don't work in Vista. I can't even "edit" the features. It just doesn't appear.
-
Return and get another mouse? I got mine for it's curvy shape and wireless, not the special buttons.
-
True but if I'm paying 40 bucks for a mouse, I'd rather get some buttons that I can use. And the mini-receiver is always a bonus.
-
If supported, the logitech mice all use "Setpoint", kind of like Nvidia forceware, for a range of products. I have used the MX610 and it doesn't have zoom. There are volume up/down buttons that you can try to reprogram into zoom but Setpoint caused so many problems that I just used Windows drivers.
-
Well, I decided to just get the 610 for 5 bucks cheaper. At least volume is more useful. Hopefully SetPoint works this time -_-;
-
MX620 is vastly superior.
-
How so? What's it got outside the free-spinning wheel?
I'm not willing to toss another 10 bucks just for the free-spinning wheel. -
The free-spinning wheel is one of those things that you don't appreciate until you start using it a lot.
Thinking about returning my Mx600 that I just got and getting a 610 for slightly cheaper.
