Hi guys! How's it going? Right now im pondering over buying new headphones..
I really want to know how well of an improvement i will get over my current ones (they are pretty bad).
My current headphones are: Panasonic RP-HTX7
Headphones i am wanting to buy but dont know if i should: Sennheiser HD555
Are there any other headphones worth my money other than those Senns? I use my headphones for EVERYTHING (movies, music, gaming ...etc)
I heard about the Sennheiser HD650's but im not really willing to spend THAT much money as i am on a 200$~ budget.
Thanks and please no flaming![]()

I've been using sennheiser hd555's for a year now and have no regrets
I'm not currently using any discrete soundcard, don't know how it would boost my sound...but my sounds are great even without it!

since they are around over a year old...arent they a bit outdated? are there better headphones with better quality sound that i could get for around 200$?
If not i think i will get these -
AKG K271. I own a pair of those (the have a new release called MKII, I have the old ones), and they provide really great quality in all terms.

Headphones have a hard time out dating, the technology of drivers hasn't really changed to much, certainly not enough for them to be out dated in a year. The HD555's are good, but don't pay more than 100$ for them. I personally used to use some HD580's which are an older set from the current HD595 line. But I've switched to some Ultrasone HFI-780's and I really like them. They're very fun headphones, great for games and movies. You can get them for about 185$

U can get HD595 if ur budget is $200.

Are Sennheiser the best brand for headphones? I've heard so much about them in recent months, but I had no idea they existed before. I had always her of the usual suspects, Sony and Boss.

Sennheiser builds great stuff, but I don't think there is any brand that is best, cause they each produce different headphones that have different sound signatures, and different people like different sound signatures. Thats why its important to try a pair of headphones out before you buy them, if you can. That or find some one that has alot of different kinds of headphones then ask them what they like the most and why.

Sony and Bose have very mediocre headphones from my experience. Sennheiser makes much better products than either of those brands.

So, personally I've used Sonys (can't remember the specific model, but they really weren't all that remarkable anyway), Bose Triports, and then currently Sennheiser HD600's. The Bose headphones were...lacking I think. Basically, they were a HUGE step up from the Sony's I had, but they really lacked a lot in sound quality. Essentially what I got was a ton of fairly average bass to make up for it. I mean, it's going to be an incredible jump from the normal headphones you see at Best Buy, but it's still just kind of mediocre, I think. The Sennheiser's though have been wonderful. They're open air, so that does mean any and all peripheral noise isn't blocked out, but the sound is great. I think though the 600's are still about $50 above your budget, but the level just below, the 595's, can be found for $200. Actually, if you really want to try headphones out, check around for a good audio store nearby where you live. You can easily try headphones out there, and the best part is most stores let you bring in whatever music you want to test them. As such, another brand that might be worth trying (along with Sennheiser and AKG) is Grado. I think the 225's go for about $200. Those also sounded pretty good as I recall, though personally I preferred the Sennheiser's.

Sony's consumer level headphones are really mediocre but Sony also makes some high end stuff which like SA5000 and the R10...
the SA5000 cost like $500 and the R10 cost in thousands of dollars.
R10 are considered one of the best headphones ever..they are legend ..although u mite not even find them anywhere.
For $200 as i said HD595 are your best choice...they dont even need an Amp..they run off easily with a soundcard -
I cant find a manufacturer in Canada that sells HD595..if you can point on out it would be great.
i tried
futureshop
bestbuy
newegg.ca

Well, off the top of my head, you can always use Amazon.com and have it shipped to you in Canada. I believe it's an extra $8, though there certainly has to be a better way of doing it. Let me get back to you on that...

I wish some of the Sennheisers were in my price range at the current moment. Some of them are just too ridiculously priced. I guess in the end, however, you get what you pay for - top quality.

JVC rx700 or rx900.
rx700~~$40
rx900~~$60 w/ shipping!
They both are no doubt the strongest competitors in their price range. They easily are the best choices under $150.
Just check head-fi. and search rx900 or rx700.
Here I give you an example link. Btw, you can always get your favorite regardless the suggestion.

http://www.americanmusical.com/Item--i-SEN-RS120-LIST Although the sound of these headphones are not spectacular(not bad though), they are the most comfortable things that you could ever place over your ears.
Thinking of buying new headphones..
