I am going to be getting a new dv4000 soon, but the bag that I have now for my OLD HP ze1250 - on which the fan sounds like a Dremmel power saw trying to cool the AMD Athlon desktop processor - is a cheap Targus with an uncomfortable shoulder strap. I really like the crumpler bags, but I can't find a picture of one in relation to an actual person. If anyone with a crumpler horseman or cashmere blazer can get a picture of it on a person on here, I would be forever in your debt... :D

Also, if anyone here has a dv4000, what do you use to carry it? I am in school, and I usually have about 2 books and a notebook in my bag with my computer, and I want something that isn't TOO bulky or big.

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give.....I've lurked around here for weeks, and this is my first foray into posting.... :)

Just one more thing.....the dimensions listed on HP's website for the dv4000 are 14.11" x 10.16" x 1.67". For those of you with the dv4000, do these dimensions include the 12 cell battery, or will I have to add some height to the listed height for that?

    Thanks guys!!!!

You might have to detach the 12-cell in order for it to fit properly. It is very bulky, sticks out about 2 cm down and out the back respectively.

Coriolis did this review on his Crumpler. :D

Yeah...I saw that review, and that's one of the things that got me looking at Crumpler, but I am having trouble deciding upon the appropriate size of the bag. I've also seen conflicting measurements for the interior laptop compartment for the Horseman, which is sort of annoying, since some say that the computer will fit and others say it won't.

    Thanks for the input/advice.

Hmmm, I don't have the Horseman, but it looks like its made for 17" laptops, so I don't know if the DV4000 will fit tightly.

I'd aim for a 15.4" oriented one, because those will fit for sure. If its a bit loose, just put the laptop in a sleeve, and it should fit light a glove.

However, try looking at the list of resellers on their site, they may have a reseller location nearby!

    Hey Hey!
I have the Crumpler Cashmere Blazer and I'm very happy with it. That said, it's HUGE! The bag itself is massive. I'm a 5'10" and 190 lbs dude who works out, so not that fat (just to give you an idea of my size) and the thing barely fits on my back. If you're significantly smaller than me I'd say the bag is too big. As for the laptop compartment it is also very big. I put my Acer Ferrari 4005 in there along with my Wacom Graphire 6x8 tablet and the fit is perfect. There is just enough room to take things in and out with ease but it's tight enough that they don't bang around and smack against each other. I just make sure that their bottoms are facing each other and they haven't been scratched at all. Without the tablet in the sleeve, the laptop fits great too. When you put something into the inner laptop sleeve it will sink to the bottom and the excess sleeve around the laptop kind of hugs around it, making sure it doens't flop around. When you pull up on the laptop to take it out then the sleeve relaxes and it's easy to pull out. I think that the dv4000 is a bit smaller then the Ferrari but maybe a bit thicker, so I would think that it will fit just great in the Crumpler.

Again, the bag is huge. I have a Shinza sleeve to put it in as well (look for my comments on Shinza in this forum) so that I can leave the Crumpler behind when I want to travel lightly. In those cases I throw it in the sleeve and then the sleeve into a slim messenger bag with the power brick, a mouse, and some loose papers then I'm good to go.

    Hope that helps!

    Heya,

Like Bruce Banner, I have the 4005 + Cashmere Blazer.. I'm a big guy and it still looks pretty big on me. I ordered the beer back as well just to have the backpack option (hasn't arrived yet) for toting the laptop longer distances etc.

I find the Cashmere blazer fits the 15.4" ferrari really well inside a sumdex sleeve even. There is some extra space on either side, but with the velcro strap thing it really holds it secure so it won't be sliding around in there. Plus the extra pockets inside are great for power cords, notebook lock, the wireless mouse and any other accessories.. Definitely a good buy, very pleased with it. Plus I've been asked a couple times by complete strangers on the streets where I got the bag, so it must look pretty cool.. ;)
