Has anyone checked out or own either of these messenger bags? Here are the links:
    Overland Equipment Seattle
    STM Medium Cargo

I am looking for a bag for my new 14" Asus, which is on the way (i am excited!). Since no one makes messenger bags (or any type of bag) for 14" notebooks, i'm looking at bags for 15.4" notebooks instead. I am trying to decide between the two mentioned above and a Timbuk2.

If anyone has any thoughts on them, i'd be interested to hear about durability, quality of construction, weight/size in person, and how much extra cargo they can hold besides a computer.

I'd be interested in hearing other recommendations if anyone cares to add. My ideal bag is an army-surplus style messenger bag big enough for a 14 or 15" notebook, made with a rugged canvas or cordura exterior (NOT the usual balistic type nylon) with some type of interior lining. It should be big enough to accomodate a notebook and a couple books, but not much more. Thanks!

Not having either one, I can't make a recommendation, but I can say from experience, that you need to take into account all the "extras" you will be hauling around when you consider the size of a case. Especially consider that you have to take the power "brick" wherever you go. If you use your notebook for work and need to take paperwork and files about a larger case is needed.

I think the Overland cases are sold at REI or Hudson Trail Outfitters (at least here in MD) so if you have either one in your area you might give them a call to see if what your looking for is in stock and go check one out. Or find out on the website what retailers are in your area.
