Odd request. I have a sleeve for my Vaio SZ which doesn't have any pockets. I want to keep a USB drive handy at all times and cannot keep it in the laptops bag. I have an SD slot and a PCMCIA slot that I don't use. I am looking for a thumbdrive that can be stored in either of those two slots.

Does anyone know of a thumbdrive in either of those form factors? That way I could always have it with the machine...

Hmm, you're right... that IS an odd request. ;)

Only thing that comes to mind is the Sandisk Ultra II SD Plus Card, which is an SD card with built in USB plug.

an sd card itself is much cheaper than a usb flash drive... why don't you just use the sd card as portable storage... its the same thing as a flash drive i think just different form factor (sd vs usb) and can be used in anything that has a media card reader as almost all media card readers are sd and other types...

That isn't an option because I want to be able to use it on desktop PCs at school. USB is ubiquitous, where media readers aren't.

Hey, that drawer is perfect, and it's a great excuse to buy one of those tiny, flat Sony USB Drives: http://www.sony.net/Products/Media/Microvault/usm-h.html

Wow that looks really cool. I looked at the other items in that catagory, and I couldnt find one that worked in an ExpressCard slot. Do you know of any sites that have a similar product for ExpressCard slots?

If you want a thumbdrive that is very small, its small enough that I keep mine in my wallet. And its almost the exact same price as just any normal SD card for the ammount of storage. Its the same thickness as a normal SD card. They are also very strong, I've ran them through the washer and dryer many times, kept them in my wallet for as long as I've had it. And mines still working.
