I just can't decide.
I'm looking for a messenger (or backpack if I can find one that is stylish and holds a lot) that will fit 2 good-sized text books, Dell E1705, and a 2" binder. I really like that the pen-organizer is on the inside on the Timbuk2, but I really like that the Chrome has a built in shoulder-pad. The thing that sets me back, is that both of them are kinda expensive. Thanks.

the axio hybrid seems like it would be another decent choice. very spacious and sturdy.

I have a Chrome Metropolis, and as far as build, I would say that the Chrome initially feels sturdier since it's thicker, and heavier. Functionally, the Timbuk2 is a bit better since it hangs like a regular messenger, which is good if you want to accesss it easily by swinging it around. you can in fact swing around the chrome although doing so sets the buckle right on your shoulder.... The chrome, in that it hangs more like a backpack, and can actually be worn like a backpack on the right shoulder, combined with the shoulder pad is better for your back. I could go on and on but i'll just respond as questions come up.

I'm leaning towards the Chrome because of all the pros. I really like the idea of having a buckle to just eject instead of having to pull the darn strap over your head. I also really like that it already has a pad, where the Timbuk2 doesn't and costs $10 extra.
kidA: How do you like your Chrome? Is it comfortable enough to wear everyday? Can it hold everything I listed in the first post? Thanks a bunch! -
yeah it's big, the pad is nice, and yes i use it everyday. to be honest, i find it just as comfortable as a messenger as i do as a backpack. the buckle is nice, i use it almost everytime i wear it as a messenger. just as a note, you'll want to hold the bag by the strap around the buckle just in case you have random curious friends who want to push the button, or if you want to push it, so that you can catch it
It it a good bag, quite waterproof, and quite sturdy. you might want to have a backpack for smaller loads, or for longer walks (like spending all day downtown) but that's up to you. and yes it will hold everything you need it to hold though for the sake of your shoulder i might suggest getting a sleeve for the e1705 that has handles.
If you check out my sig, there's a review of the metropolis that i did and the sleeve that i use. The metropolis review should have a few pics of it loaded with junk -
Alright, yeah i've been looking for a sleeve for my soon-to-come E1705 and the ImpactGuard looks like a good one. The thing is that I will most likely not be taking everything I listed to class everyday which will be nice.

the chrome backpacks are nice too. i kind of wish i had gotten one, even though im a sucker for the seatbelt buckle...
