Hey.
Hope someone can help me with this. I have a Toshiba Satellite A105-S4104 notebook whose AC adapter has fried to death. I'm, of course, looking to replace it, but unsure of what to purchase.
Toshiba's website directed me to buy a global adapter which costs about $67. I also found another one for about the same value, specifically made for my notebook number. Then I discovered a replacement adapter (same model # as the one I have) that's offered at a temptingly low $21.39.
As I'm sure it would for others, the latter deal obviously appeals to me most. But something about that boldly painted word "replacement" and the too-good-to-be-true price tag seems fishy to me.
Should I buy the replacement and pray it lasts even a few weeks before exploding in my face? (Let's hope this would not be the case.) Or should I cave into Toshiba's price, at least ensuring myself a solid purchase?
Those questions go for notebook batteries, too. (Yes, both have finally shut down on me after a little more than a year. I can't do anything until I find replacements!)
Please, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

personally i would go for the cheaper one. because it is about 1/3 the price of the global. so basically you can blow it 3 times before u break even with the 67$ one.

That's true. However since I"m a college student, I'd hate to have it fail on me during midterms or finals week and waiting stressfully for the next shipment would be a nightmare.

Get the more expensive one. From what I've been through, don't cheap out when it comes to reliability, which is what you need. Money comes and money goes, but you screwing up during midterms/finals will affect your grades and what not. Spend the extra money, that's my take on it.

Btw can u describe what 'fried to death' means? would love to know

Thanks, unknowntt.
nocturnal310 - I meant it's failed to properly charge the battery. Whenever I plug it in now, the adapter makes a beeping noise, which it never did before. Most likely indicating a need for replacement. -
Metamorphical Good computer user
Check out ebay, power adapters nad batteries are pretty cheap on their. You can find plenty official and band new ones to.

dont be cheap on an adapter, i ahve heard some cases where these have fried the actual computers, and as said above 67$ for a lead is expensive but can u put a price on your grades/future? by teh genuine one

Once I ruined a perfect original cell phone battery by using a cheap unbranded charger, after that I decided never to buy unbranded/cheap charges. Id go with the expensive (if possible a certified or a branded charger) since laptop batteries are too expensive to mess around with.

As I said, don't cheap out on reliability. Money comes, and money goes, you have your whole life ahead of you and in 30 years the extra 30 bucks you spent won't matter at all, what will is the good mark you got on your final

Awesome. Thanks for all your help, everyone.
To buy or not to buy? That is the question.
