Does anyone here haveThe Horizontal Brain Cell? Is it good to carry on its own outside of a special laptop bag to put it in? Is it heavy? How secure do the shoulder straps feel?

I got one, it's carryable with the handle. Heavy? Well, then expected yes, but its cause it's quite padded.

I don't have the shoulder straps so I can't comment on it.

    that bag looks really sturdy...
does it have any extra little compartments or pockets for stuff like mice, headphones, CD's, etc.?

It's got a mesh front pocket but I've heard from diffrent reviews that it's not that big.

The mesh pockets aren't that big, it can fit the power block and cord though, but I wouldn't put much in it.

How solid do the handles feel? Do they cut into your palms?

They're just acrylic handles so it's okay, not padded for sure.

Barely any space at the sides, paper, maybe.

the brain cell is the best bag in the world. are you talking about the xtra heavy duty shoulder strap tom bihn sells? i've never used anything more comfortable. you can absolutely use it as a standalone bag or as a sleeve inside of another bag. i can carry by power brick, mouse, external hard drive, and a few CD's in the outside pouch. the straps are simple nylon but i find them comfortable enough and they do not cut into my had. i would recommend a strap if you are planning on using it as a standalone bag though.

Thank you! I already have a Timbuk2 Messanger bag and I'd hate to buy another bag just for the brain cell to fit in.
