I have the horizontal brain cell. So maybe I can offer some details.

First there is an outside stretchy mesh pocket that can hold a mouse, a spiral notebook, maybe your MP3 player and some pens/pencils.

Next the bag is hard sided and functions easily as a standalone bag. I added the Ultimate Shoulder Strap to mine and it is really worth the extra $25.

One thing you should not want to do it get a bag bigger then indicated for your make/model laptop. You do not want to add things inside the bag itself because that would decrease the whole point of protecting the laptop.

Other then that the construction is extremely good. The zippers are never going to break or wear out. but if they do Tom Bihn offers a lifetime warranty. The folks there are also WONDERFUL to deal with for questions and support with the bags. They seem to actually like their job and genuinely want to offer all the help they can.

My bag ended up costing about $80 with shipping. I needed the 2XL bag for my NX9420. I use just this bag by itself more then I use the Super Ego bag I have. It makes a great bag to just tote around my laptop when I head to Starbucks, the park or wherever...

    hope that helps a bit...

Mine is the new Olive color and looks very nice.

I also have the braincell. I put it in a super ego. I do like the sleeve. I had an old pavillion notebook zv5000 and it would not fit anything else. In the bag for sure but not in the sleeve. I would get the sleeve and a small bag to go around it for some extras. Otherwise, put the charger in another bag.

Yeah, I do not carry the charger around with me. But I have the extra battery on my system when I go out. That all fits inside the bag itself just fine. But I bet if I took a smaller spiral notebook I could add the power adapter in the outside pouch with little problem. It will bulge a bit from the pouch but, eh, who cares.

Do you have the standard strap it comes with or one of the other shoulder straps?

To me sleeve does not seem like the right name because it can be carried as a standalone bag or briefcase-type carrier.

So what do you think is it better to get the sleeve with regular strap or shoulder one?

    thanks

the standard strap is also a shoulder strap. It is just the Ultimate Shoulder Strap is about the best thing ever. The pad is filled with some sort of solid gel material that absorbs the typical shocks and stuff from carrying a bag. Also the Ultimate seems to eliminate the "shoulder strap hickey" issue too... ;)

I am not at all sorry i spent the extra on the upgraded shoulder strap. I walk a LOT and carry a bag whenever possible and the strap makes that much easier and not at all a chore as it used to be on some days.

EDIT: My mistake the bag does not come standard with a shoulder strap of any kind. That is an add-on for the bag as it is intended to rest inside another bag. Sorry for the goof. But I still suggest the Ultimate Shoulder Strap.

i forgot to mention that the shoulder straps clip on and can be used with any bag that has somewhere to clip on to...
