Toners for HP Laserjet P1006

I recently purchased a HP Laserjet P1006 and was looking for toners and found this from HP website.

This toner seems costly at $60 for a yield of 1500 pages. I was reading a few reviews for the printer where the users have mentioned about generic toners for around $12 that can be used with this printer? Can someone suggest where I can buy such toners? Are there any disadvantages to using such generic toners? Are there any users on this website for P1006? If so, can you please share your reviews and the toners you use? Thanks a lot.

Thanks. I did check newegg as well. HP offers free shipping but newegg charges $6 on shipping and hence, the total price works out to be almost same on both HP and newegg. I am not sure if I can purchase HP toners for less than $50 for this model. Hence, I am looking for non-HP toners that would fit this printer for less than $30.

 

I just found out some info on refilling kits from meritline. Are these good?
