Ha! That is very cool, something I haven't seen before. Quite innovative, however, looks kind of unpractical...

    Any word on price?

doesn't really mention anything about approx charge time for laptop. That and if you were to wear the backpack while charging those items. The odd angle that the sun strike the surface of the solar cell won't provide much juice. Even if the sun were that intense to provide adequate charge. I wouldn't be caught dead outside if the sun radiation were that powerful that day. I'd be inside destroying the environment with huge AC running on electricity generated by burning of fossil fuel. LOL LOL.

Well, that would work, provided that

    A. It's sunny long enough. (sorry Brits :p)

    B. The sun is actually hitting the solar panels (You can't put your face to the sun)

Now disregarding all (im)practicality, I want one! :p

APC also makes one of these, they've been around for a while. I don't know anyone who's tried one though. I too am skeptical that a notebook would charge very quickly. Maybe an iPOD would be better ;)

hmm considering a cell phone takes 4-6 hours a notebook would probably take atleast 5 times as long... I wonder if they have some kind of kinetic or manual solution like an excercise bike or something. I think that would be killing three birds with one stone working out, listening to music, and charging the battery.

The price really isn't too bad; but practicality is where it fails...and of course, it doesn't fit 17" notebooks.

is there a thick sheet of plexiglass over that solar panel? I tend to bang my bags around a lot.

I think I saw this backpack reviewed on g4 tv a couple of months ago. If I recall correctly, it couldn't really recharge a laptop only a few small devices. And you can't run a laptop off of it. Still pretty cool though.

They just say that. I am sure you can get it to trickle charge a laptop. Especially at 65W for the smaller notebooks.
