So I am using the Targus World Power Travel Adapter:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...ref=sr_1_6/103-9274973-9303817?_encoding=UTF8
and I inserted the Belkin Travel Surge protector into an outlet and KAPOW! The lights go off and the circuit breaker trips.
I will tell you that I was VERY HESITANT about sticking anything else in the plug. I tried a different outlet with the Targus adapter and used, of all things, my travel Dell Power brick and...No pop, no fire, no smoke. The laptop charges fine.
What in the heck happened to the Surge protector? I was very happy with it until it met its end. I am in Portugal with my US adapters etc. They use 220V.

Is your surge protector 220V????
I believe they only allow one voltage, and if they allow 110/220, then it is not autosensing, instead there will be a switch. -
I can't tell since it's charred.
It says:
voltage suppression rating: 330V
Maximum load: 15A, 125Vac, 60Hz, 1875W
Model no. F9H220-TVL -
Which would explain why it went poof, you overloaded it and it fried.
I know if you do it in reverse... 220 on a 110 it wouldnt fry, but it wouldnt work either or just be undervolted. Might make some noise too.
