    I've got a Tosh 1800, with a USB 1.1. I got a pcmcia USB2, which worked fine - just plug and play.

Then I reformatted my HDD to get rid of the dross and now it won't work. It doesn't matter if I load the software for the usb first or the card, the system starts to back up files and then just freezes.

    Tried:
    Software first
    Card first
Loading files to the drive directory manually
    Resetting BIOS
Setting restore point to pre-empt XP idiot software

    Regards
