    Hi

I currently have a Lenovo USB 3 "docking" station and it works ok. However, it supports max 2 screens of 1900x1200 or thereabout, and I want to run 2 monitors running 1900x1200 in addition to one monitor running 2560x1600.

Does a USB 3 dock exist, that can do that? It would have to have build in "graphics cards" like the Lenovo, as my attached laptop cannot handle the resolutions.

I think the answer to my question will be no, but at least then I tried before I go out and buy a desktop pc for this purpose. :)

...Actually it is 2 monitors at 1600x1200 and one at 2560x1600, but I doubt it changes much.

I assume no answers means that it is not possible.

Pretty much, the issue is one of available bandwidth and lagg. USB 3.0 is already pretty good in that it has enough bandwidth to actually drive a decent monitor or two compared to USB 2.0. Another thing is that video through USB will eat up CPU cycles and since you want three monitors, the likelihood of you needing your CPU for something else is likely high.

A docking station will not do what you want, but Matrox may have something that will do if you have a display port out on your notebook: Matrox TripleHead2Go DisplayPort | Multi-Monitors for Laptops. It'll be expensive though.

Well, expensive is all a matter of perspective and what you use the device for. For something I'd buy just for me, yeah it's expensive. However, if I needed to have a triple monitor display for a new experimental setup that was being purchased, the cost could easily be justified.

Connect two displays with the dock you have now and get one usb3 external graphics adapter for the third monitor. Maybe your laptop has displayport, use it to connect the third display. Less strain on the GPU too.
