Does anyone have recommendations for a USB 3.0 -> Gigabit Ethernet adapter? Preferably one that doesn't require drivers and will work with a wide variety of OSes, including unconventional ones like Android.

Dunno about Android, but Startech's USB3.0 adapter gets good reviews for throughput.

I did consider that one, but it requires drivers to work even in Windows so the chances of it working in any other OS are slim to none.

There's no such thing as 'doesn't require drivers'. It's just that some OS's have pre-loaded drivers for some devices. I'm not aware of any OS's yet that have support for USB3.0 Ethernet adapters out of the box.
