I have to travel every week so I am trying to minimize the number of chargers I need to carry.
I carry two phones (both Samsung USB C) and two laptops (M1 MacPro and Dell Precision 3540).
For the two phones I ordered a two port usb c charger so they can be charged on the night stand.
For the laptops I am having a little issue.
The mac charger is 87 watts. The Dell I received from work has the old barrel connector (but at my normal office I have a dock and it does everything though one usb c port).
I tried using the Apple charger on the Dell but I got a warning saying if I use it to hard it may loose charge or not keep up.
From my search the Dell would required a 90 watt charger (apparently my 87 watt Apple charger is not enough, or there is some programing that makes them fight).
On amazon it looks like there are some decent 100 watt usb c charging bricks which I am hoping would do both laptops without any warnings (not at the same time of course). Some of the reviews seem to have standby issues with the mac.

In regards to the cables, do they/should they be 100 watt capable? For example if I use the cable from my mac (or the 65 watt cable from my old Pixelbook) could that cause potential issues?

The dell just can't see the ID of the ac adapter likely because it's an apple product. I have this problem even with appropriate Adapter's on plenty of Dell machines at work.
Before spending money just plug in the apple charger and disable AC adapter warnings in the bios and see how the machine behaves as well as the temperature of the ac adapter. Most of the machines I have worked with that charge via USB c only allow up to 25w charging on Dells, that changes to 130w (could be higher in the standard but only speaking from what I have used) when using thunderbolt.Clutch likes this. -
I use my two 96 Watt Apple chargers with my moms XPS 9370 and sisters XPS 9350 and our Latitudes 7540 and 7280. Even the Precision 7520 and 5530 work with them. Ignore the boot up warning message, that’s normal happens even if you use a barrel connector that of lower wattage ...FYI my Precision 7530 normally uses a 130 Watt barrel charger but has no issues with the lower wattage USB-C ones in normal use... Full CPU/GPU combined load the battery will discharge as the warning states but not a big deal if not doing combined load...
