I need a Usb drive to carry some stuff to school and family. I saw a 1gig usb flash drive from sandisk for $75. I haven't looked at these things before, but for 1gig that sound crazy inexpensive. Is there a Safest or Best USB drive or are they all the same? Thanks

New egg has the sandisk 1G for 72, free shipping. Sandisk is a good brand. But all are practically the same. Mine is a generic brand it is still alive, I rarely use it any more because it is too small anyway, + I use my Iriver HDD MP3 player as a drive since it's always with me!

Just watchout for one thing. Don't get a USB version 1 (a lot slower than version 2). Although USB2 has been aroud for a long time but you never know if some store might still have some USB1 in stock and is trying to get rid of them!

Not really, I have several and they're pretty nice. Some offer more in the way of security, but other than that, they're pretty similar.

I am also surprised at the rapid price drop for USB flash drive. In fact, my local Staples sells the SONY 1GB Micro Vault (which is the SONY way to call their flash memory) for $60 after rebate. I bought one and it works just fine. From SONY website in Japan, you can download softwares to add more features to it, such as password pretection and compressing files. If you really want a durable one to prevent damage, I would suggest SanDisk Cruzer Titanium. SanDisk claims it to be "virtually indestructible...capable of surviving a force of up to 2,000 pounds."
