Okay something happend to my USB mouse. It moves erratically and I am not sure what caused it. My touchpad works fine but I need that mouse so I can play games. :p I had another mouse that was exactly the same as the one causing the problem.

So I think it could be a driver issue, but I have no idea how to delete the driver for it. It is a plug and play device.

Any help would be great. :)
    Thanks,
    Tim

Right click on My Computer > Click on Properties > Hardware tab > Device Manager > Mice and Other Pointing Devices > Select your mouse (not your trackpad) > Right click and select uninstall.
    Disconnect your mouse.
Restart Windows and let it detect and install the drivers for it.

You could also try downloading its specific drivers from the manufacturer's website.

    cheers!

Unfortionately it was not fixed. :p I thought it was fixed but then it started up again.

When I tried to disable the mouse nothing happend. :(

I tried to delete the drivers from the system32 folder. But that didn't work and they just reappeared. =P

    Any more ideas?
    Thanks for the help,
    Tim

I vaguely remember this happening when my Intellimouse Explorer started dying on my around 2003. Have you tried your mouse out on another PC/notebook to see if you still get the erratic bahaviour?

If there is something wrong with the mouse, I don't think using the manufacturer's drivers will help all that much, but did you try that?

What about using a different USB port on your laptop. Not all USB ports are made equally (or so it seems). I have heard of and have experienced situations when a mouse works better out of 1 USB port rather than another.

    cheers!

Edit: and thanks for the cookie :D

Why not simply use a mouse pad Tim, and see is that solves the problem.

    We have a winner!!! :D

Thank you :p I didn't even think about that since I am so used to it working on my desk. I just got a new desk so that was probably the problem. It worked fine with no problems with the mouse pad.

Yep. I used to have the same problem too. Mouse jumping everywhere and then I did everything, but replaced the simple mouse pad. LOL if I knew it sooner, I would've just done that from the beginning than mess around with the drivers.
