Hey all, so I just bought a Lenovo X200, it has no optical drive. I am looking for a USB powered multiburner. I have been looking around and have seen a couple, but was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions about what they have/like, or any warnings about some of them.

    Thanks

Daarn... how are you supposed to install the software? Why isn't it equipped with one?

I dont know any particular ones. Just get one with good return policy and manufacturer's warranty.

It isn't equipped with one because it's an ultraportable, I don't really need or want a drive in it, I will just get an external one and use that when I need something.

There actually is an option for getting a base with a drive in it, but it was like 400 bones, so I said forget it, I'll just go buy one for like 100 bucks.

I have been eyeing the new one from LG which is totally usb powered for my EEEPC. It's real slim.

You could buy an IDE enclosure and get an IDE drive, that gives you more choice...

That could be a little problematic. I have not seen an enclosure that can be USB powered.
Besides, getting an X200 means you want to be portable and should there be a need to lug around a 5.25" enclosure which is heavier than the notebook defeats the purpose of getting an ultraportable in the first place. :p

If you're going to lug it I don't see what the point of an ultraportable was - regardless of the Burner you get it's going to be bigger (combined w/ the laptop) than say an M1330 or a Vaio TZ
