Hey guys, I have just bought a 2.o GB Sandisk Titanium Cruzer and I have a problem with it. When I plug it in the blue LED lights up and stays lit at all times, but when I "safely remove it" or "eject" it the LED won't turn off, it stays lit. Do any of you have the same problem? A friend of mine has a micro cruzer and has the same problem. Is there a solution? Will unpluging it while lit damage it?
    Thanks!

USB drives don't need to be "safely removed". As long as files aren't transferring, you can plug it in and pull it out all day without worry.

Not true. Otherwise, they wouldn't show up in the Safely Remove Hardware window. Removing a lit USB drive can corrupt the USB drive. I have a 4gb Cruzer (used for ReadyBoost) and in the directions it says NOT to remove the drive until either the light is off or after using the Safely Remove hardware feature and getting the OK window to remove the drive.

i agree with deltasig. you may end up with damaged file or fat (file allocation table) if you do not removed your external storage devices properly.

I agree with the others that let the light turn off. Maybe you can just shut down your computer and then unplug the USB flash drive?

I think his problem is that it stays lit even after he removes it and it never goes off when it is in the USB port. that means he never knows whether it is still transferring data or not cuz the LED stays on and not blinking. when he removes it, the LED remains on (not clear when it goes off)

he did not ask if its ok to remove it without using the safely remove feature, he asked if the LED not blinking and staying on all the time even after removal is normal and i dont think it is

The reason the manual states to "safely remove" the hardware is to cover their own butts in case something does happen.

    1. You do not have to use the "safely remove" feature with USB flash drives. There are two settings a flash drive can be put in, the first is a "easy use" setting - where it's made for PnP and can be removed as long as data is not currently transferring. That is the default setting.

    2. The second setting is "performance", technically that speeds up the flash drive, but not many people have it on that setting. This is the setting where randomly pulling it out can corrupt the drive.

    3. I have a Cruzer myself, when you plug it in, the orange light comes on. When you pull it out, the orange light goes off since there is no longer power.

    Thanks guys
My problem is that as long as the cruzer is plugged in the LED stays on, even after I have hit safely remove hardware>stop and the flaash drive doesn't show up in the safely remove hardware window. from what I have seen at another friend of mine, when he hits stop the LED goes off. why is mine not going off?
And another thing: it wont launch Launchpad automatically, but it will open the CD Drive(H :) U3 System. do I have to modify something in the autorun file?
    Thanks
