    G'day guys,

I've got a Dell XPS M1330 and I want to watch video from it on my TV - it's a big old analogue TV and the only inputs it has are S-video and Red-Yellow-White ports. My laptop, though, doesn't have S-video or Red-Yellow-White jacks - it only has HDMI.

If I buy a cable that is USB to S-Video, will that work just the same as an S-Video cable?

    Cheers

    Jonny

No, what you need is a VGA to RCA or VGA to S-Video cable.
Like this, which is actually a two in one:
    http://www.amazon.com/EFORCITY-VGA-S-Video-RCA-Adaptor/dp/B000P3UB24

Then if you want to move audio over to the TV you need a cable like this:
    http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-Audio-Cable-Splitter-1-Mini/dp/B00004Z5CP/ref=pd_bxgy_e_img_c

I can't attest to the quality of these cables as I have not used them, but I can tell you not to buy any monster cables.

Alternatively you could get an HDMI to RCA converter box, but this will probably cost a bit more.
