    USB tv tuner. Laptop to external monitor.

    If i buy a usb tv tuner for my laptop, could i use vga out to send the cable tv to a desktop monitor?

    Yes, unless you're watching HD tv, which would probably require a more secure transmission (ie HDMI).

    most tv tuners dont have an output jack, they usually only have an input.

    No...he means that he will connect the tuner to his system via USB and then output the video and sound using the laptops jacks.


    To the original Poster...yes this can be done. Let me suggest a dual monitor setup if your card supports it, which most should. Doing this you can just drag your video window into your external monitor, while still using your laptop to browse etc.

    whoops, I was too quick to answer the question without thoroughly reading it first.

    Yes, I agree, a dual monitor setup would be idea. In the display properties, make sure to check off "extend my desktop onto this monitor"
