I just got an e-Mail from NewEgg customer "support" saying it was beyond their abilities to list the dimensions, let alone the max height capacity, of the USB2 2.5" hard disk enclosures they sell.

Last year I bought a NexStar enclosure for the slow drive I ripped out of my HP laptop when I replaced it with a Hitachi 7200 rpm drive, and I'd like to do the same with the old 18GB 4200 drive I took out of my old Dell Inspiron when I put a fast Hitachi Travelstar in it for my wife (she lost her newer laptop from work when she retired).

The old Dell drive is also an IBM Travelstar, but it's 12mm instead of 9.5 and won't fit the NexStar. If anybody knows of one that will fit the older, thicker 2.5" drives I'd like to know. It's a cheap (around $25 or less) way to add to my archive/sneaker net device line up.

    Follow-up, FYI:

ZipZomFly didn't have the info, but they did have a mfgr. contact for the Ultra ULT31738 2.5" Aluminum USB 2.0 HD Enclosure, of which they said "Simply install any 2.5-inch IDE hard disk drive into the enclosure". I was leery of that "any", but Ultra product support responded quickly and confirmed that "this supports from a 9mm to a 12.7 mm hardrive".
