Recently i bought a 160 gb external (not portable) hard drive and i was wondering if it's a must to unplug the hard disk by clicking on the safely remove icon before shutting down or i can just shut down and later unplug it? Will it do damage to my hard disk?

It's always better to remove it safely incase something is accessing the drive, but most of the time it's probably OK to yank it out--I wouldn't though.

    Just play it safe.
