    Hi im looking for a good 5.1 surround sound card for my laptop, ive looked at the sound blaster xfi 5.1 surround sound external sound card but ive been reading up a few feedback and problems with sound lag on windows 7 ive also been looking at the turtle beach brand but can't seem to find any arround uk.

    Are there any other good sound cards that are windows 7 compatible

    Well, that X-Fi 5.1 card works on Vista on my mother's laptop and no complaints...

    Its possibly more a driver problem - Creative isn't the best when it comes to drivers, its best to let the OS choose its own drivers... so that might be a non-issue.

    Maybe check the return policy of your store - if you can return it due to things like "sound lag" (I assume in a film image and sound would be out of synchronisation?) - then it might be worth a try.

    thats correct alot of ppl reporting synchronisation problems yeah im mainly looking for something that will have no real driver/good driver support sound card for windows 7 and vista which i duel boot as well..

    i own that xfi external thing and ill give it a shot later today to see if this so called lag is there.(i havent used this card since i bought my logitech g35 headset) will post my results

    EDIT ok i just tried out my xfi 5.1 surround external audio card and it works fine i didnt experience any lag at all. i tested 3 different movies 2 tv show episodes and a few online streaming videos. no problems at all so i think everyone that is having issues is most likely something else or user error.
