perhaps learn to touch type.
Least expensive solution. -
haha ..
im a decent touch typer at best but the added fact that its a new laptop i cant get to grips with it -
you could have a look through here: Amazon.co.uk: computer usb light
or..Glowing fluorescent keyboard stickers... -
I received a Kensington flylight with a gooseneck as a gift. Very study with 2 brightness settings. But its study construction makes it a bit weighty.

I have such a gooseneck lamp lying around in my drawer. Retired, since I suspect such a thing will apply too much mechanical force on the USB port which are only fixed by the soldering points on the PCB.
A construction with a cable and a clamp (not sure if such exists) would be more favourable, IMO.

I got mine off eBay for $1.74, why don't you give them a try?

I've had a 13 led usb light I bought off Ebay for at least a year. It was less than $5 but I just checked and it can be had for about $2.50 with shipping. Since it looks like mine I'd assume it's the same.
It's worked great and it is the only usb light I would recommend having used a few others.
It is very bright and the neck is sturdy enough.
Looks like this:
