OK, I have seen several people using their cell phones as remotes for their notebooks through bluetooth. I think I may have come across the software that allows this, but I can't recall what it was. Does anybody know what the name of the software is? I want to be able to use my phone primarily to control media. Other controls are a plus, but not required.

By the way, I have a Blackberry Pearl and I have bluetooth built into my laptop.

    Thanks

Yes, that's correct. Using a mobile phone as a remote control with Bluetooth is easy in Mac OS X as it's part of the Bluetooth Device Setup. I'm not sure if the software suites for mobiles e.g. Sony Ericsson PC Suite have software with them that enables the use of a mobile phone with Bluetooth as a remote control.

Well, on my Blackberry when I click on my laptop under the Bluetooth menu and go to device properties, it says one of the services is "A/V Remote Control Target". Wouldn't this be what I'm looking for?

Yeah it is, but lately it hasn't been a very good friend. :)

I've been searching around, but coming with little information.

:) yeah it is kinda spoiled

By the way, I just got a Palm TX and found a REMOTE application that lets you use the PDA as a remote for TVs and stuff, but it's on IR, but I'm sure there should be a way to mate it with some laptops (like HP or Dell)

Just FYI in case you have a PDA

All true about Google. :) Anyway, the link by sprtnbsblplya looks good, but apparently it doesn't support BlackBerrys very well. Plus, I don't think I'd want to spend cash on an application because for that money I could just buy a dedicated remote.
