I just bought a DEll 1520 and a Swiss Wenger SYNERGY backpack. So I'm wondering when storing my notebook in the backpack, which direction should it face. Should the top of the LCD face my back, which would be good for when you are carrying other items because those items would not rest on the top of the LCD but I guess that could be bad when you lay the pack down because then the notebook would be laying upside down, or should it face away, which it kind of the reverse of my last statement, or does it even matter? any thoughts?

I have thought about the same thing before. I usually place the LCD facing my back so that nothing heavy inside the backpack will be hitting against it. But I am careful not to lay the backpack down and always put it down standing up or lay it down on the front. My backpack is pretty big, so most of the time it can stand up on its own!

I don't think it really matters.
I've wondering this myself once I bought my backpack for my notebook. I don't think it really matters when you carrying it around, just be careful not to put all the weight on your notebook when you put the backpack down.
