I'm moving to China and while my laptop is of course 110-220 does it matter if the three-prong/two-prong adapter is? China uses a plug that is that same as the old two-prong ones.

The thing that matters is the power supply itself. As long as it can handle 220 and 120, you're set. All you need is an adapter sometimes to get the plugs to work.

If you have people at the destination you already know, you could ask if they have spare power cords that fit your power brick directly. Save the trouble with adapters.

I have a cardboard box full of old power cords "just in case", I know I won't be the only one :D

If you have a two prong Euro or American plug, you will have no trouble plugging into the sockets here. Lots of hotels will have sockets for three prong Euro and American plugs though. If you aren't staying in a nice hotel and have a three prong power plug, you will probably need an adapter, but you can find them everywhere very inexpensively. Also this advice does vary based on where in China you will be since there are no standard wall sockets in the country, but Type A, Type C, and Type I are the three "official" ones of China.

That's better and they're also dirt cheap.
