if you're looking only at the logitech line, i suggest you consider the mx revolution. although i don't own one, i've used it a couple times and i think it's the most comfortable out of the 3 (i own the vx revolution and the g7)

I own the MX Revolution and it has to be the most comfortable mouse I have ever used. The price is definitely worth it. However, if you plan on gaming I would go for the g7. I'm actually going to buy a Razer Deathadder soon for my gaming needs.

Hmm. I was using the G7 full time for about a year and a half until it broke. The VX Revolution I used for about a couple weeks. I would go for the G7 just because the VX just seems like more of a notebook mouse and it's bigger.

I heard G7 is the worst mouse in Logitech line of mice from many directions.

VX is very comfortable if you dont mind it being a bit smaller. Its not tiny, but its also not full size.

I use the G7 on my desktop for gaming, another G7 at work and a VX nano for my laptop.

I'm currently using my MX1000 for my laptop right now, but I will end up getting a G7 due to it's lack of needing an A/C charger for the charging station/base which makes it much more mobile IMO for carrying around with my laptop. The battery charging station for the G7 is powered by the USB port itself; unlike the charging station of the MX1000 that connects to a USB and the A/C adapter.

For desktop purposes, I'd like to pick up a MX5000 keyboard and mouse.

I use the VX revolution daily and I LOVE it. I was using it when I played CS: Source for a while, but then I busted out my ghetto Creative Fatlity (wired) mouse and I started playing much better. My guess is that one, my Creative mouse is a bit lighter, and two, there must be a little latency that's created since the VX is wireless (I was getting out-knifed like a n00b).

So, I wouldn't recommend it for gaming for FPS's.
