    Hi there friends.

Early this week a friend called so i could help him setup the subject.
Basically he saw a similar setup chez moi and thought it would be nice to have something along those lines.

So, my setup is basically an R630 Toshiba coupled with an 23" LCD on the VGA port and a Samsung 42" Full HD LCD connected through HDMI. I can use both screens, having the notebooks screen turned off. I set the 23" screen as primary and the 40" as secondary.

Ok now, on to the problem itself. My friend then got to his town and bought 2 42" LED screens to couple with his Vaio VGN TT 21 WN. But the most funny thing happens. If he connects both of his screens at the same time, the VGA connected one turns off. It seems as if HDMI as predominance over VGA.
Going to the graphic card management software doesnt help also. You can only have one of the big screens selected, as the software forces the use of the laptop screen wether as primary or secondary, which one is available at the moment.

He tried going to BIOS, but to no avail. Or he didnt looked properly.

Did any of you have such a problem? What's the solution? Any hints you may have please share.

    Regards.

I don't have that particular computer but it's likely that it can't drive two external monitors. Even the new Z can't drive two external monitors! Most likely he'll need a USB video card to get it working properly.

    Hi.
    Thanks for your reply.

Do you think this would fit the bill? With this equipment could my friend also use the notebook's display, making it a 3 monitors system?

I'm not an expert in this matter (so I'd wait for someone else to reply) as I have no experience with external graphics cards). But something like that would probably fit the bill. You can probably find something cheaper on monoprice.com or newegg. Good luck with the search!

I tried running 2 externals with my tc4400 some time ago.

It didn't really work at first, in the end I first connected one external and then used Win+P to select external monitor only. Then I connected the second monitor and used graphics driver to enable second monitor (I could see all three monitors in the driver, I just clicked the other external and it worked).

All the other options involved internal monitor and either one of the externals, so it took a while to figure out.
