    Hi all,

I have an old laptop sitting around ~ A Compaq Presario.....2500?

Anyways....I plan to take the whole thing apart ~

I want to make the hard drive into an external ~

I'm planning to buy the Vantec 2.5” SATA to USB 2.0 & eSATA External HDD Enclosure ~

Does anyone have any experience with these enclosure?

    Is it any good?

I have used this enclosure - actually own two of them now - best 2.5" enclosure in my opinion. You won't go wrong with its purchase. I got mine from NewEgg for about 15 dollars.

Vantec is a good brand. I have one but not that exact one you posted.

If i remember correctly the Compaq Presario 2500 uses IDE/PATA drives not SATA, so that enclosure will not work. I suggest you verify this

I have several vantec hard drive enclosures, they all work perfectly.
Flipfire is correct, check what drive you have and get the correct unit for it.

if it's an "old" laptop, chances are you need the IDE 2.5" enclosures.
I have this vantec and it works fine. However, through USB, it transfers the same as the cheaper Coolmax $10 case that I got.
