What is the best equipment for recording interviews? I need it for my Ph.D research.
I know the best would be to buy a dedicated voice recorder, but I only need the equipment for about 2-4 weeks, and capable voice recorders seem to cost about 75-80€. Therefore I either want to pay much less, or buy something which has other uses.

    1. I have Nokia 5800, is there any high-sensitivity external mic for it? OR:
    2. Buy a Ipod touch and attach a mic to it (OS3.1 has some voice recorder software) Is this a viable alternative? OR:
    3. Use a netbook?

My preference would be the Ipod, but are the available mics sensitive enough for interviews, and is the software capable of recording 10-15 min. sound clips?

The problem is that I don't want to lug a laptop with me, so I would need something smaller and lighter.

I don't know much about the sound quality on iPods and Netbooks but when I do voice overs for my movies I always use my camcorder. It's a rather cheap camcorder (300$) but the sound quality is quite good actually.

A camcorder would be out of question, because it is hard to get the acknowledgment of the interview partners to record their voice, but it would be almost impossible to make a video of them.

If I can borrow your thread for a related question: what format do these recorders usually make? I've been trying to find a way to make mp3 voice files (I want to record something that will go onto an iPod for playback) - do I just need your basic microphone for the laptop, or do I need to do something different?
