I was just wondering. There is a Staples President's Sale today, and I can get a WD 500GB My Book for $75 or the WD 160GB Passport for $55. Which one should I get?

Thats not a question we can answer. We don't know how you live your life, how much data you have, whether you require it to be mobile. Its totally personal preference.

Hmm... I would like to back up most of my data. And I have a 160 GB hard drive thats filled to about 110 GB... Hmm... I'll go with the Passport... Thanks!

Personally, I'd go with the 500GB one because I have one and it's AWESOME. I have like 200~ GB filled with media and I dropped it off of my mid-ATX sized Desktop. I thought it was dead and I moped around; it turns out I just had to reboot my computer because it auto-shutoff and it worked right after it :)

Also, does this offer apply online?

I'm not sure... I have a $25 off coupon, so it's actually more expensive than this.

The passport is more convinient, but I wouldn't backup my system onto something i'd keep in my pocket.

    Exactly my thought.
Something that portable is too risky a backup for me.
    Id go My Book.

I'd go MyBook for two reasons, one because I have one and find to to be quite good and two because of what has already been mentioned about the dangers of backing up systems to something portable.

I pick the 500 GB because I don't think I need 160 GB running around.

I made myself a 500 GB external western digital with NexStar 3 case for around $100 last year.
