I've got a slight dilemma. I just bought a Western Digital My Book 500 GB hard drive to go with my HP Pavilion 8120ca with XP Home. The problem is when it's connected via Firewire and I fire up my laptop, the laptop hangs on bootup. Firewire only works if it's unplugged before my computer boots up. When the Firewire is connected, it works just fine. If I use USB 2.0, the laptop doesn't hang on bootup.

I tried going into BIOS and it says the computer should be booting in the right order (i.e. it tries to find the CD first, then the master drive). Unless I missed something, I couldn't find anything saying that Firewire was an option.

Oh, and the reason why I'm connected via Firewire is that most people I've talked to suggested it more than USB, plus it gives me a bit more room in adding another USB device. Is there something I'm missing to get the computer to "ignore" the Firewire connection until after Windows start? Or, should I just forget it and go back to USB 2.0?
