I wasn't sure where to post this, so feel free to move it. I have an Asus A8JM and want to watch TV on my laptop and also be able to watch movies from my laptop onto my TV...how do I do this? What plugs and such would I need? I'm pretty sure this laptop comes w/ an S-Video or w/ev its called.

most tv tuners now-a-days have an output (red, yellow, white, and/ or s-video). so what you do, is plug the tv cable to the tv tuner, then connect the output wires to your tv input.

i'm not sure about watching tv on your laptop, but to use your laptop as a dvd player of sorts, you can use an s-video cord and a y-cable for the audio. it is a cable that has one input that goes into the headphone jack and then splits into two output plugs for the audio.

watch tv on laptop = you need a tv tuner
watch stuff on your tv from your laptop = you need an s video cable (and 1/8" to rca stereo for audio cable) -
Yea, I agree with drumfu. You would need a tv-tuner. This is an example of what you might need: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1699056&CatId=1427
Of course they have other things like an external tv-tuner that runs through USB. If you are buying one, make sure you get one with a remote. It is really helpful if it comes with it.
