Which one should I pick for my Black Macbook?

The vertical bag looks unique since not a lot of bags are vertical. The horizontal one might look too wide when i'm carrying it on my shoulder because it's a widescreen laptop. I really don't know which one to choose.

I plan on ordering one of these next week for my Asus A8Js. I will be buying the vertical one with no flap or shoulder strap because it will be going in my backpack. I won't be using it as my main notbook bag.

If you will be using this as the primary bag (for lack of a better term), I would suggest the horizontal. It isn't going to be wider than any standard messenger bag. I had a messenger bag for my 15.4" Dell and it worked great.

I would fear that the vertical version might end up being too long, even if the shoulder strap is shortened. I also imagine that vertical one might not be as easy to handle. The distribution of weight is different and the point of the shoulder strap to the bottom of the bag is much longer.

Let us know what you get and what you think of it when it arrives.

I have both of these sleeves - I prefer the vertical one (on the right) - my laptop fits better and feels more secure in there versus the horizontal one.

I'm getting the vertical as well, but because I prefer backpacks but will get the flap and the rings / belt as well.

I am using/have used both the horizontal & vertical sleeves for my notebook. I bought both without the shoulder strap & have it customized with a flap.

Bought a horizontal one for my Dell Inspiron 700m for use in a bag pack. It is good but the orientation seems to be odd because I put the sleeve in a back pack & not a messenger bag. Sold the 700m with the sleeve. It is of good quality, very durable, & definitely provide good protection.

I bought another one for my Sony Vaio SZ. I chose a vertical one & couldn't have been happier as I store it into my bag pack. These sleeves by WaterField are really good stuff & as someone who has experience using it, I highly recommend them.

Alright, I'm going to purchase a vertical sleeve with the flap, D-rings, and shoulder strap. I hope it isn't too wide.

You can contact WaterField for more details on the sleeve as well & I'm sure they'll be glad to help you out. They have very good customer service based on my experience dealing with them.

If you are putting this inside your backpack, get the vertical setup. If you are putting it inside a carrying case (messenger bag), get the horizontal setup.

It's pretty much preference then. If you used a backpack, the vertical bag would be a lot more convenient. Since you are using a shoulder strap attached to the bag, the horizontal probably would be easier to have by your side, since it balances out. A vertical bag might swing around more if you aren't careful. However, the vertical bag looks more secure though (when you're not using the strap).

I think vertical orientation, in all of these sleeve brands, will be slightly more rigid, just because there is less opening to compromise the structure.

So customizable, too bad no option for a buckle- the design of that flap begs for a buckle.

x2. You want the open side to be the smallest side. You might want to consider a backpack to put this thing in. Seems a bit silly to carry it 'as-is'. Reminds me the the math students in the 70's, who wore large electronic calculators in a belt holster. :p
