    Does having an integrated web cam on a laptop also mean it comes with a built in microphone? Or not always? This is for a dell...

    No, it doesn't mean it automatically comes with a mic. It depends on your laptop.

    How would i know? Is there some sort of "code word" the computer industry's have for web cam's with integrated mics?

    Tell us the model for the dell laptop and you will get a more definite response, because we will actually be able to determined the hardware spec.

    btw, if it so happened that the Dell is a Vostro 1400/1500/1700, or Inspiron 1420/1520/1720, it has a mic built into the screen.

    I thought vostros dell computers were of business use, wouldn't have figured it came with integrated mic

    Its called "Integrated Webcam with microphone". Dont tell anyone i told you though, its the secret code word.

    Most pre-made laptops with integrated webcams come with a mic anyway. If you customise an order you can get it with or without a mic.
