Can splitters be crappy quality? I'm using a splitter to get sound from both my hdtv and pc monitor at the same time, but, when I turn off the tv and i'm not listening to anything from the pc monitor, I can hear the tv's sound coming through the pc monitor. It picks from any source too, whether it is from my composite av or from tv from OTA antenna.

    Why is this happening?

splitters can be a bad quality but your problem is not a quality issue its feedback/reverb.

Your solution would be a switch rather than a splitter so you can completely cut off the un-used source when you do not need it.

When my monitor speaker's is not in use (i use a headset/speaker switch, so when it's on headset) i can hear the sound, but not when the switch is on the monitor speakers. Hm.
