I am using the 500G one. It took about 2.5 hours to transfer about 36G of pictures and songs and other stuff to my computer, I think it is doing ok. It is sturdy and has a gloss look, tends to get finger prints easily, but the whole thing is quite solid, and light, so I think it is a good external drive.

Yeah I've heard a lot of good things about WD, so I'm really tempted to get this one since it's only £50-ish for 250GB. Speed and transfer rate is a non-issue for me, as long as it can last and work without fuss I'll be going for it.

    I have the 500GB also..It cost me about $90.. :D

It worked well when I was backing up all my files off my lappy and doing a clean install. And, it's great for storage, etc :D The file transfer went smooth & easy! ;)

WD is a great, reliable brand!

    Cin ;) :)

$90 for 500GB?! That was quite a bargain you got there! Amazon is just about the only site I'm confident in shopping from, and a 500GB drive would cost about twice as much here across the pond. Though I reckon 250GB would suit me just fine. :)

Yeah, I got it from Dell (thru my EPP Rep) and he price matched, and added my applicable discounts :D...I got very lucky! A very good deal, indeed!

I think you will be very happy with 250GB...That prob's would've worked for me, but this deal was to hard to pass up! ;)

Yeah I saw those, but I already got a nice little suede pouch from my old 80GB Fujitsu drive, which I thought should go nicely with the new one when it arrives. :D

However I do like the one that has a little compartment underneath for cables and stuff.

    It's sexy little drive. ;)

I have three of them (500GB variety).

As well as numerous Toshibas and Seagates.

Portables are GREAT for carrying on movies and music. Best to get two, though, and back up one.
