    What is the big difference between the wd passport and the elite version? and why does everyone hate the new passports?

    The new passports have a new software pre-installed that makes the computer recognize the drive as cd drive mount...kinda annoying if you ask me. But anyways, for starters, basic users will be able to be more organized with the software, but the rest of us, we can't take away the software, that's the main reason this portable drive is being canned.

    Also I think the Elites have a metallic case over the standard plastic Passports

    I personally wouldn't spend the extra money.

    Because I don't feel the extra features are worth the cost since I don't use them.

    Is the casing of the elite much better than the passport?
